Teaching Artist (School Year)
We are looking for dedicated, professional Teaching Artists to lead our classes with children ages 2-15 years old. Our programs are located throughout suburban Maryland and Northern Virginia. Our class sizes vary from 6-20 students.
Teaching artists are responsible for:
Leading improvisational theater games
Carrying out art projects
Reading storybooks to kids
Acting out stories for older students
Directing youth in writing and rehearsing original plays,
Planning and designing costumes, scenery, and props.
Attending weekly team meetings
Assist with lesson planning
B.A. or certification in early childhood education, education, fine arts, and /or performing arts
Professional experience working with children ages 2-15 years old
Knowledge and/or experience in character education
Passion for arts education
At least 21 years old to be Lead Teacher; 18 years old to be Assistant Teacher
Our ideal candidate is:
Available to teach Mon-Fri b/t 9am-12pm and/or 2-7pm & Saturday b/t 9am-12pm
Willing to work at various sites (within 15-20 miles outside of preferred location)
Has a reliable car
Ideally able to teach multiple classes per week
Pay ranges from $15-30/hr

The CARE Actor program helps youth ages 2-15 years old discover and awaken their creativity in order to build a sense of confidence, courage, character. We are a small business looking to hire a part-time Program Manager to start in early February.
The Program Manager will assist the CEO in the day-to-day operations for several theater arts classes in Northern VA and Montgomery County. This is an excellent opportunity to work for rewarding and high quality theater arts education program for kids. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, can resolve conflicts and problem-solve effectively, able to juggle multiple tasks, has excellent organizational skills, can handle the unpredictability of changing needs as they rise within the organization. S/he must also be resourceful, technologically proficient, comfortable making calls on behalf of our organization, and have a willingness to drive to multiple locations around the DMV as needed (mostly Montgomery County and Northern VA).
Assist CEO with administrative duties that mainly include managing 15-20 classes.
Provide on-site support if needed at any one of our classes in Montgomery County or Northern VA for children serving children ages 2-15.
An ability to help CEO plan, schedule & execute multiple classes throughout Northern Virginia and Montgomery County.
Handle logistics & communications with teachers, partners, parents, students, and potential clients on a daily basis.
Provide the highest level of customer service to parents and children enrolled in classes
Recognize and respond effectively to emergencies and on-site class needs
Manage & organize teaching supplies and inventory including but not limited to teacher kits, ordering supplies/costumes, organizing supplies/book kits, printing out materials for teachers, transporting supplies to staff meetings as needed in both NoVA and MoCo
Updating databases with registration numbers & attendance, etc.
Attending & leading weekly team meetings & staff meetings
Assist CEO with additional tasks & administrative support in areas of marketing, outreach, communications etc.
2+ years experience as a Teacher, Counselor and/or Program Assistant in an educational setting
Experience working with children in an arts education program
Current First Aid / CPR / AED certification a huge plus
Upto 20 hrs/week from Feb 2018 to mid-June 2018, contract renewed upon performance
Must be available for weekly Monday meetings from 7-8:30pm
Must be available to be on call during class hours for the Winter session. There will also be additional weekly meetings with the CEO.
Potential to stay on full-time during the Summer Camp season
3-week training period starting at $15/hr; Rate will go up thereafter based on performance.
Must have a car and be willing to make on-site visits to classes as needed.
Must have an interest & background in arts education and be able to teach/sub as needed for any of the classes we run.
